Helping Workgroups Share Design Information
Computer Associates AllFusion Model Navigator provides cost-effective read-only access to models built with the AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler and AllFusion Process Modeler. As a complementary product to both, AllFusion Model Navigator gives non-modelers access to model information for presentation, analysis and application development functions.
AllFusion Model Navigator opens the door to sharing model information with interested business users who are not directly involved in the database design or business process modeling. Similarly, AllFusion Model Navigator provides an ideal way to share this information with client/server, data warehouse and web/Intranet developers who need to understand how the underlying database tables are related in order to design effective data-entry forms, OLAP queries and web-based drill-down pages. With AllFusion Model Navigator, everyone can see all the information in an AllFusion ERwin data model. By letting users readily share corporate data models, new applications can be created more quickly, with a comprehensive, visual `blueprint` of the underlying data structures.
Because AllFusion Model Navigator supports the standard AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler and AllFusion Process Modeler navigation, display, reporting and printing features, it serves as an effective communication tool. For visual presentations, users can implement included display options, manipulate subject areas and stored displays, highlight diagrams with custom fonts and colors, zoom in or out and drag diagram objects from one location to another to effectively communicate ideas.
For detailed analysis, AllFusion Model Navigator enables users to create and print the full range of AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler and AllFusion Process Modeler reports. Users can also print graphical diagram pages directly using standard print dialog features.
For application development, AllFusion Model Navigator publishes both the client-side and server-side view of a project, so users know which columns are in each database table; what keys, constraints and validation rules have been specified; and how the information in different tables is related. In addition, users can view client-side attribute information stored in the AllFusion ERwin data model to determine what type of control should be used to display the data in a column and how it should be formatted.
